An undergraduate at Peking University is suing Microsoft for infringement of privacy in the process of collecting personal information.
The plaintiff is asking - "Microsoft to unveil the information they collected from computers installed with a pirated-version-check application, and make a public apology for the misconduct."
The student said he installed the software on his laptop and then learned it would exist forever and that his information would automatically be forwarded to
Microsoft. He complained - "the company forces people to sign an agreement but offers no way for individual users to uninstall the bug."
The student also wants an uninstall tool plus compensation of $200.
Microsoft has acknowledged the claim but has refused comment thus far.
$200...yup, that will bring Microsoft to its knees.
