Indicted, self-proclaimed hero and phony "Captain" Scott Shields likes to give presentations at schools and boy scout and girl scout troop meetings. What a guy!

What if she is telling the truth?I know someone who went to grad school with her and has stayed in touch over the years. My friend speaks wonders of Tanya.She is very angry at the media for discrediting her when she clearly has not embezzled like others have and did not receive as much media attention for it. Tanya has a very loyal group of friends who swear by her and claim they knew her boyfriend who died. Perhaps we'll see this story turn around at some point.

I met Tania at a survivor's group meeting. And since she supposedly worked as a consultant that was doing a project in my company, I wanted to speak with her. When I had an opportunity to do that, I started off with saying I was surprised that she was able to get in a plane so quickly after 9/11, and she indicated that was her business, so she had to. I asked who she knew in my company, who she was working with. She gave me a name, but it never made sense to me why she would have been working with this person. Now it does, since she never worked there, and never knew him. I tried to make arrangements for us to meet for lunch, so I could pick her brain more on who she was with that day. Funny thing was, I didn't want to pry, for fear that it would open old wounds, and I didn't want to upset her, since she had been through so much. I was trying to be considerate of her.

Well, she messed up my head for many years, and got sympathy that should have been directed towards other people who really needed it. She made many of us survivors feel like our stories weren't as worthy of being heard, because hers was so much MORE traumatic. Well, all our stories were worthy, because they were REAL. She cheated us. I really don't have any sympathy for her now. She may have done 'good' by helping found the network, but I was there in the beginning days and it would have been a success with or without her.
