Oil companies (for ex. EXXON) have a LOT to gain by convincing the public that climate change is not something people can do anything about. In fact, few energy companies (BP, Chevron) now even admit that climate change is even occurring let alone that climate is affected by humans, let alone add avenues to their business that could go away from fossil fuels. If climate change can be dealt with by reducing fossil fuels used, then oil and coal companies stand to lose lots of money if the word gets out. So who would finance "scientists" to be loud to the media that global warming is a myth? hmmm let me think here....
What major rich companies in the world stand to profit from the fact that global warming is caused by humans who would be willing to give a LOT of money to scientists? Does Al Gore fund research? No, he just makes sensationalist movies to hobnob with the Hollywood crowd. Does the IPCC fund research? No, they compile already published research through a peer review process involving thousands of scientists around the world - they don't fund the research. Who funds all the research that supports the idea that global warming is our fault to make it such an incentive for scientists to study? Well, I am still looking and have yet to find a huge money interest in researching that people are responsible for global warming. All the climate scientists I know compete for funding with the same governmental agencies that all other science is funded by.
