Coldstone Ice Cream is not likely to be happy to hea that a 25-year old Japanese woman developed vanillin - vanilla flavoring and fragrance - from cow dung.

She became the 12th Japanese person to be awared an Ig-Nobel Prize.

Ig-Nobel prizes are a play on the Nobel Prizes that "first make people laugh, and then make them think."

Yamamoto's research was awarded at a ceremony held at Harvard University.
