Blackwater USA CEO, Erik Prinice is saying that he and his family did NOT pull strings to get the security contract in Iraq.
Erik Prince, just 38-years young is the son of a wealthy Holland industrialist and brother-in-law of a former Republican gubernatorial candidate whose family created the Amway company.
Looks to me like there is a LOT of money there...and strings that weren't pulled.
Prince, in response to an Ohio Democratic presidential candidate's question said he did not use family connections nor did he approach people at the White House or in Congress to get the contract.![]()
Yeah, right.
I am sure he just sent in his work estimates and he and his firm were picked out of the bunch for being the most capable.
I don't know of anybody anywhere who gets a huge job, much less a government job without some sort of connection. Do you?
Prince says that even though there were mistakes, nobody his firm guarded died on their watch. Civilians died...but nobody they guarded.
All told, Blackwater forces have been involved in 195 shooting incidents.
In short...if you want protection, Blackwater USA is the place to go. You'll get home even if 11 innocent civilians are killed on the way...no strings attached, of course.
Do you think a $1billion job contract can be secured withOUT some sort of contact?

Actually, I find it hard to believe that with all the oversight of how contracts are awarded, there is ANY room for "contacts." And your guess about how Blackwater was selected from its competitors is pretty much correct: most of their contracts are actually GSA schedule. More facts here: http://blackblawg.blogspot.com/
