Ferdowsi University in Mashhad, Iran has invited President George Bush to speak.
Last week, Bush's Iranian counterpart, Ahmadinehad, spoke at Columbia University in New York.
The White House spokeswoman responded -
"Obviously if Iran was a free and democratic society that allowed its people freedom of expression and wasn't pursuing nuclear weapons and wasn't
advocating to destroy the country of Israel, the president might consider that invitation."Uh, wouldn't those be the reasons that he SHOULD consider it - to tell the students first hand about:
1. what a free and democratic society is
2. freedom of expression
3. our take on Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons
4. the destruction of Israel
WH spokeswoman also said, "But I think that we're not taking it too seriously."
Does that mean the WH is taking it a little seriously?
Columbia president, in his introduction "called Ahmadinejad a 'petty and cruel dictator' and said his Holocaust denials suggested he was either 'brazenly provocative or astonishingly uneducated.'"
Gee...I'd really like to hear how the Ferdowsi University introduces Bush, wouldn't you?
