Too young to get married - she was just 14 and he was 17.
Too poor to get married - he worked at a farm, plowing fields and picking cotton for 50 cents a day.
Too 'foolish' to get their parents approval.
But....80 years later they are still married, living together in a nursing home (since 2002), listening to gospel music, visiting others and playing bingo.
The couple raised 6 children and credit their long life to hard farm work and eating lots of veggies.
They don't fuss - too busy to fight said the missus.
These days couples consider it a major accomplishment to stay together 14 years...gosh that's two 7-year itch periods, isn't it?
