A school board in Portland, ME says that middle schools students with parental permission can go on 'the pill.'
"Totally needed" says the health center nurse. Last year, 5 of the 134 students who showed up for care had intercourse. Gotta do something...now. Condoms...check. The pill...double check.
Middle schools students can get confidential health care, then decide if they want ot inform their parents or not.

I thought CA was off the deep end....It seems the other pointy end of the country is somewhere's way out there, too.
Portland city's Division of Public Health made the birth-control proposal.
I think it is time for Portland city officials to go back to school.
