American universities are concerned about security.
Beijing University, one of China's best is feeling the need for control of over who comes on campus also.
A new policy at BU requires people to show ID cards before they can enter some campus buildings.
The purpose of the new policy is to:
1. prepare for Olympic test events that will take place next month
2. prepare for the actual venues that will take place next year for the Beijing Summer Olympic Games.
"People from outside still have opportunity to sit in our classes, as long as they
arrive at the teaching building ahead of the class," said one university official.
Students complain about intrusions and interruptions from outsiders.
And, of course, there are the real troublemakers....the dangerous ones that must be considered.
Beijing U is also fighting amonst itself because decade old notice boards had been demolished.
Why shouldn't all people on campuses be required to have ID cards?
