I run the risk of not being able to get a media pass to attend future BlogWorld Expos in Vegas or otherwise by writing my observations here.
A waste of time?
It was for me.
What did I learn?
Nothing.
Seriously...the KMM folks have taught me most of what I need to know except for maybe how to write better...and BlogWorld couldn't teach me that either.
What BlogWorld did do, instead of teach, instruct, inform, equip and all that, was
put us in sessions where the speakers tried to sell us the service we wanted. No! Teach me, don't sell to me.
I felt as if had been a three day long sales mill.
Veteran conference goers tell me that's pretty much the way things are.
Networking...probably my fault mostly...but I met nobody like me, nobody in my niche...a waste of time.
The booths...lots of things going on, IF I want to pay for it...another waste of time.
Recommendations:
Teach us something -
instead of telling me that a service, if I pay, will give me analytics so I can know where to place ads, hasn't somebody already figured that out already? Tell me!
Instead of telling me your service can make my blogs into a book, tell me how I can do it myself....
Instead of putting us all in a room and trying to sell us your ideas (product, web service), and blow your own horn, instruct us on how to do the same.
Instead of 22-year olds who were 'lucky'...how about instructing those of us who work hard how to get 'lucky.' After all, we were in Vegas.
A waste of time?
It was for me.
What was your experience at BlogWorld?
