The Dalai Lama dropped by Japan and while there visited Japan's holiest Shinto shrine in Ise, western Japan.
It was the DL's second visit to the shrine dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu Omikami, the mythical ancestor of the imperial family. The key word being mythical.
I thought the Dalai Lama was Buddhist.
And, what's with one shrine being holier than another?
Makes me wonder where the church I went to this morning is on the list.
I mean, gee, what if your place is holier than mine.![]()
The DL said "Wherever I go, if time permits, I always pay my respect or pilgrimage to all different religious... temples."
Respect is good....
"I've fully committed promotion of religious harmony," he continued.
Harmony in religion...give it up.
The DL also said, "Religious faith is sometimes causing divisions and problems. (In the) meantime, all religions have the same message, the message of love ... and the same potential to save humanity."
He's wrong on that one.
Some religions want to impose guilt on their followers, others grace....and there is everything in between.
Some religions don't have a chance of saving humanity and instead might prefer they till another better chance comes around.
The DL bowed twice at the main shrine.
He also purified himself with water from a small river inside the site.
Smells of compromise to me....trying to be all things to all people. When that happens, there is no truth.
Peace is not the highest priority...truth is.
Wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable.
The DL could not be further from the truth.
No?
