
A new national survey by TIAA-CREF says that full-time faculty at four year institutions are plenty satisfied with their jobs...53% were 'very satisfied' and 43% were 'somewhat satisfied.'
A national survey of Americans in other positions - 42% and 38% respectively.
Gee, if I only had to face my job, what?, less than 10 hours a week and the rest of the time I could spend preparing for those 10 hours OR just send someone else to do it for me...I'd like my job, too.
Oh, and 3 months off during the year...and can't get fired...and, yeah, being a full-time faculty member at a four year college sounds pretty appealing.
This may explain why, 88% of profs were 'very likely' or 'somewhat likely' to
encourage students to take up a pointer and come work at the school.
What's more...faculty members can add from 10-50% of their income from outside sources.
And when they retire, teaching, other roles in education or in business await them.
