Today is the Great American Smoke-Out.
Smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the United States, except for maybe overeating.
Imagine all the people attending an American league baseball game on a given day dropping dead. About 400,000 lose their lives each year due to smoking.
For 30 years the National Cancer Society has been trying to get Americans to stop for one day, hoping they would do it for two, then three, then permanently.
You wanna die even sooner? Move to central New York where the rate is 6%
higher than the rest of the nation.
Everyday is a good day to stop being stupid...how about today or tomorrow or the next day?
For goodness sakes....stop smoking. Now.
