Most of us won't know what to take away from our kids until somebody tells us the toy has too much lead, too many sharp edges, can go in but not come out and so on.
So, what if a kid gets attached to a toy? How do you get it back?
Babies - just take it. There's a reason why they say 'taking candy from a baby.' It's easy. And, what do you remember from when you were before 4 years old?
Toddlers - just take it. You can distract them. Give them another toy. Try reasoning with them. Or, just take it.
Older kids - make the toy 'disappear' while s/he is sleeping and then lie to them or pretend you don't know. NO! Just take it. Try reasoning with them. For most moms it will be like talking to the kid's father. Or, you can just take it.![]()
In short...parents could just be parents and tell their kids they (the parents know what is best), then take it away. The best thing the kid could learn is that their parents are looking out for them whether they understand it or not.
In the very worst case, bring in the police to take it away. That way, kids will grow up being afraid of law enforcement.
How do you protect your kids?
