28-year old Ryan Shay died running in the U.S. men’s Olympics marathon trials.
Despite being a professional distance runner he collapsed 5 1/2 miles into the 26.2 mile qualifier for the Beijing Games.
His wife is also a professional runner.
The winner, another Ryan, offered - “My thoughts and prayers just go out to them and their family. It’s a sad thing.”
The incident begs the question - when is a dream too much?
I have a son who is chasing a dream that everyone tells me is too difficult to achieve. Way too difficult.
But he keeps chasing it.
"Aren't you worried he will go crazy?" I was asked by a very close friend who knows my son well.
Yes, I am worried he might lose it...IF he does NOT chase his dream.
Ryan Shay chased a dream...chasing, that's kind of like running after something, isn't it?
