BCS Selection show.
There's a lot of money riding on the outcome of the rankings.
Moreso than who's number one, two or 10, adminstrators want to know how much money their programs will get.
Each bowl game has a different sized pot of gold.
Missouri and West Virginia threw away a lot.
Ohio State's consistency means they will get another big chunk this year = a better team the next year and more money and so on.
The figures below are from last year's games but you can get the idea of just how much money schools stand to gain lose as a result of their ranking. However, the kids that don't graduate, will lose out on much more, no?

Which do you think is more important, how much money a team makes in a bowl game or how many of their athletes graduate?

I think the BCS process stinks. It is badly flawed and how they determine the bowl selections is a sham. How on earth could Mizzou get left out of the BCS when they were in the top 10 after playing all their games, but lost the Big 12 playoff to Oklahoma. Kansas gets selected over them, but had a terrible weak schedule and Mizzou beat them for the Big 12 North. Their has to be a better system like the I-AA or II A playoffs. But we all know money is the motivating factor here since the sponsors would lose millions. Heah just look at the graduation rates of these guys. Yeah, really! Is this a good ROI on taxpayers money when many of these guys never graduate. The get a free ride football scholarship and cant find a job when their college football career takes a dive.
Just food for thought folks. Think about it.
