When Timothy Krajcir left prison after serving time for rape he enrolled in Southern Illinois University to study psychology and the criminal justice system.
What he majored in, however, was murder.
He killed at least six women in two states in six years.
Now 63, what Krajcir didn't learn in school was how to take a crime to his death.
He has confessed to nine murders.
He pleaded guilty to murdering a classmate 30 years ago.
The man was smart and diligent enough to graduate from SIU.
He was also bright enough to elude police during his crime spree.
And, he was private enough to keep his sins to himself.
His degree in law enforcement would tell him what police were looking for...he killed in a city where he did not live, for example.
Police looked for old classmates, lovers, mutual friends, NOT for someone in a different town.
