I saw a miracle today.
Yup, sure did.
I was up at Stanford children's hospital talking to a mom who's little girl was supposed to be dead.
Mom wrote her off, gave away her toys, made funeral arrangements, walked out and asked Dad to come let her know when her little two year old and 'breathed her last.'
It was to happen within an hour.
The docs had removed her intestines. And what was left was dead and rotten. The last time they looked inside the stench nearly knocked them all over. There was no hope.
The numbers dropped as predicted, then bottomed out. But, she didn't die. The numbers bounced, started going back up.
The docs decided to take another look and don't you know it, the tissue is alive and healing inside.
Oh, she's not out of the woods, not by any means. But, the docs aren't saying she'll be gone within 48 hours, today or within an hour any more. Toys are coming back, too. And the little girl has at least one present to open up on Christmas. I am sure there will be no more.
She was supposed to be dead by now. But she's not. It's a miracle that she is still alive. It's a greater miracle that her parents still believe, still pray, still hope in God who specializes in the impossible.
Don't believe in miracles?
