The past few days I have been writing about my experience attending the Messiah Sing, or Messiah Sing-along at the Stanford Memorial Chapel.
This is the last of four posts I want to write. Yesterday, I mentioned a low. Today I want to point out a high.
The song "For Unto Us a Child is Born." From Isaiah 9:6.
I have heard parts of it many times, even sang a part in it when I was in high
school. It really is hard to get all those notes. I can't imagine what Handel was thinking.Anyway, this time I went up to the second floor balcony and just sat and watched everyone else struggle till they got to the part, "And, his name shall be called....
WONDERFUL, COUNSELOR...Almighty God....
The words Wonderful and Counselor echoed throughout, caused the walls of the chapel building to swell so as to contain them as everyone sang in
unison. Powerful! It gave me chills.
1,000 some people in one voice singing the same thing.
The Messiah, Immanuel, God with us, Jesus, is indeed wonderful. He is our counselor.
How fun to hear it sang by these 1,000. How magnificent it will be to hear it sang by the multitudes of the heavenly hosts in heaven.
I'll be there. Will you?
