A first-ever study by Mental Health America revealed the 10 most depressed states in the United States.
"No one should be satisfied, but some states are doing a little better than others," said the president of the MHA.
"States that had more resources to handle mental illness and fewer barriers to treatment tended to be less depressed and have lower rates of suicide."
The ten most depressed states:
51. Utah,
50. West Virginia - after losing to Pittsburg, it's even worse now
49. Kentucky
48. Rhode Island
47. Nevada
46. Oklahoma -jumped a bit after beating Missouri
45. Idaho
44. Missouri - much worse - see # 45
43. Ohio - feeling better until the BCS championship game
42. Wyoming.
How are the people in your state?

Very interesting post, Bill. I followed your link and checked out the article from the Indy Star and saw that New Jersey (where I lived the vast majority of my life) was the third least depressed state. I have a theory on that. People from NJ don't have time to be depressed. There is too much traffic.
I'm joking of course. I live in Florida now, and I'm surprised Florida isn't near the top of the list. It's hard to be depressed when it's sunny and warm all the time. I guess that's why Hawaii came in second in terms of least depressed states.
