A St. Lawrence University professor has concluded that all-nighters are NOT GOOD for students, especially before tests.
The prof has learned the answer to the question "Will pulling an all-nighter actually help you sore well?"
The answer is "No."
The sleep patterns and transcripts of 111 students were studied.
Students who regularly pulled all-nighters had lower GPAs.
"You can't do your best work when you're sleep-deprived," says the prof.
Other short term effects include delayed reaction and tendencies to make mistakes.
Reasons for all-nighters:
1. presence of all-night study areas
2. poor time mangement
3. it's better to have something inside you and remember it poorly than to have nothing going into a test
If you ask me, the prof asks the wrong question.
Do students do better going into a test after an all-nighter or having never studied at all?
