5 words that relate to poverty -

1. destitute - lacking the necessities of life. Hundreds of people were left desitute after the earthquake.

2. economize - reduce expenses. Making a living in Silicon Valley as a writer means I need to economize.

3. frugal - avoiding waste. My wife doesn't give me much pocket money, but I get by if I am frugal.

4. impoverish - make poor, bankrupt. Raising tuition by $10 a year will not impoverish anyone.

5. indigence - poverty, penury. The Japanese raised themselves from indigence after the Second World War.
