update - modernize, renovate. You need to update your GPS input or you won't find the new residential area.
upheaval - commotion, violent disturbance. The upheaval created by the new tax scheme caused him to lose his base of supporters.
uproot - eradicate, annihilate. There's no way the squatters can be uprooted from their homes without legal action.
upstart - unpleasant new person in power. Google is no upstart but their attitude is that of one.
