The 'solution' of expensive energy would reverse worldwide trends toward:
1. greater affluence
2. decreasing birthrates
3. better health
Low-energy option would destroy millions of square miles of wildlife habitat.
Energy taxes would destroy modern agriculture.
Not only would animals be used again for clearing acres, they must be fed as well, losing even more acreage.
An area the size of the United States and Brazil combined must be cleared in order to grow clover and other nitrogen-fixing "green manure" crops.
In short - more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will result in a more luxuriant natural environment.
