
A group of five high schoolers designed the logo for the upcoming Group of Eight Summit that will be held in Lake Toya, Hokkaido on July 7-9 of this year.
Five high school students from Mie Prefecture saw their entry beat out 4,198 others.
"We expressed the coexistence of the natural environment and human beings on Earth. The logo reveals our hope that the Earth will forever remain a beautiful planet rich in greenery," said Atsuya Kondo, 18.
Leaders from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States will gather on Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido to discuss among other things the fictitious global warming.The logo will be used in decorations, posters and products and will be capitalized on by companies and other organizations.
