I went to a Lutheran parochial school growing up.
I didn't know any better and had no choice. My parents took me there the first eight years of my school life, then dumped me into a freshman class at the local high school where there were 70 times, count 'em, as many students in the class as there was in my 8th grade class. No mistake...70 times. 8 kids in my elementary school and 568 in my high school freshman class.
When I was 17, I did the Martin Luther thing and rebelled against the teachings I had learned. But, the lessons of the Good Book have stayed with me. And, for that, I am thankful that my parents sent me to the small school.
A joke -
Q: Where's the first reference to sports in the Bible?
A: Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning. I laughed because everyone around me did, but I didn't get it. Maybe I do now. "In the big inning..."
Still, that's where it all started...my education and my world view and my prejudices and my life style. In Genesis 1.
In the beginning God created...
Yeah, there was a creation. Yeah, there is an intelligent designer.
It ought to be taught in every school and in every classroom.
Then, kids will have a foundation to stand on, that they can build their lives on.
That's what I think.
What do you think?
