The International Tennis Federation has banned its number one player, Martina Hingis, for testing positive for cocaine at Wimbledon last year.
Hingis has denied the charges but the ITF is going through with the two year ban of the 27-year old tennis star.
Tennis players, Venus Williams, says that drug use does nothing to help a tennis player. Cocaine use maybe. But what about the other, um, dare we say it, steroids and HGH.
Cocaine, according to Williams, does nothing to calm a player's nerves or enhance their level of play.
And she knows this because how?
Hingis was a five-time Grand Slam champion who sat out for four years, returned in 2005 and is now out again.
Little girls who want to be tennis stars are forced now to find yet another role model in sports.
Let's hope Martina gets the help she needs.
Let's get back to playing sports just for fun, too.
Okay?
