There's an outbreak of sorts of Morgellons Disease ...close to me!
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention thinks the symptoms are in people's heads - open sores and unidentifiable objects poking out of the skin (Alien?).
Knowing my neighbors here in the Bay Area, I am inclined that there are a whole LOT of other things that are just in people's heads, but...
Now there is a study going on to determine once and for all whether Morgellons is a psychiatric condition = somebody wants to waste a lot of money.
Other symptoms:
fatigue
confusion
memory problems
joint pain
sensation of pins and needles
sensation of something crawling on the skin.
Yup, I have the disease for sure....or the symptoms anyway.
What was it I was going to say?
Morgellons disease? How about delusional parasitosis?
That second term sounds much more frightening. But, the delusional part is pretty clear.![]()
The disease was named after a similar disease discovered in 1674.
The nonprofit Morgellons Research Foundation says there are more than 10,000 families that say one of their family members has the disease.
Almost one-fourth (24%) are right here in CA. And 150-500 are in Northern CA.
That's my neighbors!
Kaiser Northern California will do the research on the disease. To be sure, patients of Kaiser and policy holders will fund the research.
How many ways can you think of to waste money?
