The number of students in China wanting to do post-graduate work is down for the first time in 10 years, off 6% from last year.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) figures the falling number is due to:
1. fewer employment opportunities for grads with masters and doctorates
2. a new focus on real ability rather than education qualifications
3. save money - undergrads with the same ability cost less than grads and post grads.
4. fewer scholarships for post graduate students.
5. students heading overseas to study
Hmm...practical ability versus a higher education degree.
Which would you choose?
