What to Do with Kelly Tilghman's Suggestion to "Lynch Tiger Woods"

Kelly Tilghman suggested that younger players, "lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley."

Kelly Tilghman played golf for Duke.

We wonder, is that where she learned that expression?

Or is that where she learned how to win at all costs?

Tilghman is now (was?) the main play-by-play announcer during The Golf Channel's PGA Tour telecasts.

She made the comment during Friday's telecast of the PGA Tour's opening event at the Mercedes-Benz Championship.

Tilghman is also now making the rounds to apologize for her slight of mouth.

Question: Can she be forgiven or does she need to be lynched?

Umm no. When you see and comment on a black person and connect the dots with "lynch" in your vocabulary and it just flows into a sentence so easily, it shows a heavy insight of how you think of that group of ppl and you only let a fraction leak out by accident. There is no doubt that we are the most sensitive group in the world, however you'll NEVER understand how much it hurts and verifies what WE think you REALLY thing of us as a group. Not to generalize..but a little insight..I don't expect any of you to really understand.

I just read the comment made by Kelly Tilghman of the Golf Channel. Given the non-inclusive history of golf and how Tiger Woods has virtually ended that mindset, Ms. Tilghman's comments bring us back to an unfortunate place in US history. The image of those that were lynched is a blot on American history. She should be terminated immediately!

The Golf Channel does not need the hit much like that received by Don Imus and MSNBC.

she needs to be fired! that is an inexcusible comment and has no place in sports or our society.

John,

Any of who to understand?

Until Americans do not see "color" of skin, we shall always be haunted by the past and using the term "lynch" even in jest with those descended from the people brought to our shores in ships as slaves, it will always make the mind cringe to recall the brutality of our past.

Look, the truth is that many White Americans truly feel that they are superior to people of color in the U.S. That is a fact. And many People of Color hate the White supremacy, racism, degredation, and condescending nature of White Americans. But until there is serious, open, transparent, and continued dialogue about race relations in the U.S. nothing will ever change to a level of mutual respect. Don't lynch Kelly for saying this. She helped to bring to the forefront what many already think, believe, but silently keep to themselves for fear of retribution. The only way to bring change in the U.S. is though dialogue and honesty. The problem is that many people aren't honest with themselves, let alone anyone else.

Let's begin by changing the conversation to a more proactice stance. Work to improve yourself first.
