
A high-ranking North Carolina Central University official has been caught stealing thousands of dollars in grant money for federal research.
$3,000 here. $18,700 there. $36,041 more over there. Checks for $15,341 out there.
False information, forged signatures, improper attempts to bypass the scholarship and financial aid office.
2 reasons -
1. make payments on his credit card.
2. funnel money to a student he had been having a relationship with despite university policies which forbid them.
Money and sex getting somebody in trouble.
Really now.
The administrator has been relieved of his duties.
Meanwhile, the university is reviewing its fiscal controls to reduce fraud, albeit $60k-70k too late for one fellow.
And we wonder why universities have so much trouble keeping the budgets balanced.
