34 Steps to be a Good Wife and Give a Great Valentine's Day Gift

How to be a good wife -

1. Have dinner ready when he gets home.

2. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have his favorite dish ready.

3. Let him know you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs.

4. Take 15 minutes before he arrives home to prepare yourself.

5. Touch up your make-up.

6. Put a ribbon in your hair to be fresh looking.

7. Understand that he has been with a lot of work weary people through the day.

8. Clear away the clutter through the main part of the house.

9. Run a dustcloth over all the flat surfaces.

10. During the cooler months, prepare a fire for him to unwind by. You rest, too.

11. Cater to his comfort and you, too, will receive immense personal satisfaction.

12. Get the children ready.

13. Wash the hands and faces of the children.

14. Change the children's clothes if necessary.

15. Show him his 'treasures' at play.

16. Minimize all noise.

17. Don't run the washer or vacuum cleaner.

18. Encourage the children to be quiet.

19. Greet him with a warm smile.

20. Show your sincerity in your desire to please him.

21. Listen to him.

22. Save the dozens of things you have to tell him for another time, not when he just arrives home.

23. Let him talk first - his topics of conversation are more important than yours.

24. Don't complain if he comes home late.

25. Don't complain if he goes out after dinner or to some place of entertainment without you.

26. Try to understand his world of pressure.

27. Count is as minor if he comes home late or stays out all night compared to what he might have gone through that day.

28. Don't ask him questions about his actions.

29. Don't question his judgements.

30. Don't doubt his integrity.

31. Remember he is master of the house.

32. Remember he will always exercise his fairness and faithfulness.

33. Remember you have no right to question him.

34. A good wife always knows her place.

Bill, say it ain't true! Even in 1955, how could any responsible writer come up with a list like that? Did the article have a byline? Aargh!

I don't know about your household, but mine doesn't look like this at all.
