Yesterday I wrote - 4 Reasons Why College Athletes Should be Paid.
I don't believe any of those arguments. Not even close.
Yeah, I am biased. I have a son who is on a full athletic scholarship at a Division I school. He trains 3-4 hours a day, represents his school well, wins, talks to new recruits, shows off the green and gold, or is it yellow. Why shouldn't he be paid?
Why isn't the fact that the school
1. pays all of his tuition enough?
2. pays his room and board enough?
3. is teaching him enough?
4. is giving him an extra year beyond his athletic ability to finish his academic studies enough?
I mean what's wrong with the school for giving him JUST the equivalent of six figures so that he can do what he would have done anyway even if they did NOT pay those things for him?
Why is that football and basketball players, the so-called high profile sports' athletes should get more?
The problem as I see it is that there is just too much money going around in the first place and everyone just wants more of it, their share and somebody else's too.![]()
IF a school has enough money to dole out more to their student athletes, why not lower school costs all around so that education becomes more affordable for everyone?
An athletic program gives an athlete a stage and an education (theoretically) for free. Why not teach the athletes how to give back instead of ask for more?
Pay the college athletes? Hopefully not on my watch.
What do you think?

Its because they are the ones providing most of the schools revenue for renovations, new technologies, and such which nobody apreicates!
