An Ohio University employee climbed to the fifth floor of the Galbreath Chapel, then stepped out on the ledge and threatened to jump off.
15 students gathered together to stop him. They had a strategy, too.
1. The students prayed. They didn't know the man, but they prayed for him anyway. Eventually 50 people gathered outside the Baker University Center and prayed.
2. One of the prayer warriors got the idea to write to the man to show him in a concrete way they wanted him to live. The student wrote a letter. Then a dozen other students wrote letters.
3. A crisis specialist with the Ohio University police read the man the inspirational
notes and spiritual messages over a four hour period.
4. Rely on God to do His work with people who make themselves available.
Pray, join hands, reach out, rely. In the end, you might be involved in saving a life. It worked at Athens, OH.
