
Latin Prefixes - Ante- before, Post- after
antecedents - ancestors, forebears. My antecdents on my dad's side came to the U.S. in the 1700s.
antedate - assign a date before the date. I antedate my blogs sometimes to fill up a day.
postdate - assign a date after the true date. Postdating a check gets people in trouble all the time.
anteroom - waiting room. Doctors make patients wait a long time in the anteroom.
postmortem - autopsy. Doctors often conduct postmotems to determine the cause of death.
postscript - note added to a letter. I wrote a postscript to my essay that I had already finished.
