I really wonder what God had in mind for childbirth BEFORE He told the woman He would greatly multiply her pain in childbirth.
One thing for sure, He did keep His promise about the pain part.
The memory is fresh in my mind. Not 5 days ago, my 8-month 1-week wife and I went to the hospital on a stormy night that the nurses tell us was the reason my wife's water broke early, hers and 18-20 other women's water also. That's a lot, seeings as the hospital is equipped for only 10 mothers at a time. The nurses were really scrambling.
Pain, labor. It was everywhere. Hours and hours of it at regular intervals. Short intervals in between and long.
The pain was alleviated for many. Most? But the labor was not. The moms and dads were 'hee hee huing,' cheering, screaming, grunting, pushing, pulling and occasionally getting grossed out (me).
In the end, God's promise has held true. It's a lot of work to have a baby.
I wonder what He had in mind BEFORE the woman sinned, don't you?
