I can't think of anything good about Good Friday. In the grand scheme of things, the Creator may have felt it necessary to go through with His plan. But, I can't imagine He had hoped that anyone would classify the day Jesus died as Good Friday.
Five things that were not good -
1. hematidrosis - comes from a very high degree of psychological stress caused by severe anxiety. The capillaries break down and release blood into the sweat glands. Sweating drops of blood is the result.
2. flogging - oversensitive skin, such that blood drips from it, becomes shredded from the shoulders to the buttocks, exposing the underlying skeletal muscles.
3. hypovolemic shock - suffering from extreme loses of blood
4. nails hammered between the bones of the wrist so that he could be hung without ripping his hands apart.
5. nails hammered between the ankle and the Achilles tendon to keep the legs in place and to prevent Jesus from raising himself up to gain some reprieve or even take a breath.
6. nails piercing median nerves in the wrists and feet causing excruciating pain - pain that can only be described as that which comes out of the cross - ex- cruci-
7. arms pulled out of their sockets - unable to support his weight, Jesus would have sagged causing his arms to become dislocated at the shoulders.
8. respiratory acidosis - too much carbon dioxide in the blood leading to
asphyxiation
9. heart failure - his heart was incapable of keeping up with the excessive loss of blood.
10. percardial effusion - water-like fluid build up around his heart, released when the Roman guard pierced his side and heart.
Jesus died. He was really dead. Very dead. Wizard of Oz dead.
What's good about any of this, other than the fact that Sunday was coming?
