Fisk University shut down its athletic program: men's basketball, women's basketball, men's and women's tennis, cross country, track, softball and volleyball, and baseball.
The athletic programs were costing the school $300k a year and were bringing in only $10k a year.

In place of the current athletic program, the school will create an intramural and club sports system.
The NCAA Division III school did not award scholarships meaning none of the 127 student-athletes will be affected.
So, I wonder out loud, why is it so hard for schools to balance their budgets? Aren't there any economic professors who can help out? Or, maybe the problem with the schools is that the profs are trying to help out.
