Colleges and universities are experiencing security scares, some real and some drummed up.

Ferum College in Virginia sent students on spring break three days early because of a n armed man threatening a housekeeper. Read more.

In MA, three colleges responded to threats and Bridgewater State College had its president threatened. Read more.

Finally, for now anyway, students at Elizabeth City State U in North Carolina are in need of counseling after a staged a drill. Students did not read e-mail and text message warning. Faculty were of no help as they didn't read their alerts either. Read more.

The scariest part is that even students are warned, it doesn't make any difference.

It's kind of like the person who turns their head as an oncoming speeding car approaches. If they can't see it, they figure they won't get hit.
