I can find blog material almost anywhere. That's a problem. Trying to make a living at this blogging thing has me looking everywhere and always. That's the problem.
I can think of 8 reasons to not be a blogger, or to not try to make a living at it.
1. Russell Shaw - a prolific blogger on technology died from a heart attack while covering something in San Jose, my neck of the woods. He was a young 60-years old.
2. Marc Ochant - another tech blogger died of a massive coronary
3. Om Malik - a Bay Area blogger also had a heart attack, but survived.
4. Michael Arrington - founder and co-editor of TechCrunch, all about technology in Silicon Valley, has gained 30 pounds in three years.
5. Bloggers are called the digital era sweat-shop workers. Grinding out info, in
volume or constantly on the hunt for a scoop and a few thousand more hits before they go looking for another one.
6. Milliseconds and bad luck make all the difference. A blogger can get the scoop, but not get noticed or have the friends to digg or stumbleupon it for him/her. Or, someone might just beat him/her to the punch. Been there, known that.
7. When you are awake, you worry about missing a story.
8. When you are asleep, you worry about missing a story.
You always worry. Meanwhile...there are heart attacks waiting to happen.
At least, we get to be part of the sweat-shop gang, eh?

Bill,
Bloggers like Om Malik and Michael Arrington are earning a huge amount of money and it is natural that they have to suffer the pressure. In any profession, there is a lot of stress if you want to go to the top. I don’t earn a lot of money and I don’t suffer like them.
