Toyota is coming to the United States with a wallet full of $100 million to be spent over the next four years.
The car maker plans to establish a new Toyota Research Institute in the heart of auto making country, Ann Arbor, MI.
On the agenda, learn more about:
1. energy
2. environment
3. safety
technology.
So far, so good.
The collaborators in the U.S., and this is where the Big Three might find hope, are academia and research centers.
There is not a better way for Toyota to go use up the money in it's savings account than to start spending it at America's universities.
Nobody can use money more quickly with nothing to show in return than America's academia.
GM, Ford and Chrylser can take heart.
