Scientists at Laval University in Quebec have come upon a critical discovery that two-thirds of Americans will want to know.
They may have even learned it in their sleep.
7-8 hours of sleep is just the right amount. People who sleep less, and more tend to put on weight as a consequence.
The scientists watched people sleep for six-years (I wonder how much they gained.) and concluded that people who slept 5-6 hours, and those who slept 9-10 put on more wieght in the middle, than those in the middle of those two hour groups.
Short sleepers gained more 4.4 pounds, and long sleepers gained 3.4 lbs.
Sleep deprivation disrupts the production of the hormone (ghrelin) that regulates the appetite.
Long sleepers stay in bed because the sleep they had hoped to get wasn't good enough.
Want to lose weight? Go to bed and get up when the alarm clock goes off 7-8 hours later.
