Sidd Finch gets my choice of the saddest April Fools Hoax of all time.

At the museum of hoaxes it ranks number two in a list of the top 100.

Sad?

Indeed.

But only because Sidd Finch wasn't a real person.

I wonder how many people were taken in by George Plimpton's excellent writing and Sports Illustrated's collaboration.

I remember when it first came out. I got to the part where the guy could throw at 168mph and immediately became skeptical.

But, I wanted to believe. I wanted to believe. Did you?

And so, I'm sad because it wasn't true.

But, I am happy to know that what I think falls out of the realm of possibility, does.
