In order to advance in Academia, it seems there are requirements, one of which according to Rob at www.procrustes.townhall.com is throwing your brain over the battlement with the babies.
There are more foolish requirements:
1. Believe in Darwinism. The key word is believe because it definitely requires huge faith.
2. Believe in human caused global warming. There's the key word again - believe. Call it a blind faith if you will.
3. Think that all corporations are inherently evil.
4. Demand that research be federally funded
5. Believe in the 'promises' of embryonic research.
6. Be or at least vote Democratic to teach at most American public universities.
I was talking with someone today about why I don't like to teach in the physical classroom anymore - too much drama.
I forgot about the drama that also goes on in the hallways, in the offices and with the administration.
And we thought academia equalled intelligence.
Academia ? Almost as if it is a new drug. Huey Lewis would be pleased. The drama on school campus and universities today is something one might find on a new hit reality series on CBS. I myself find it quite terrifying with everyone thinking they are Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood. "Let me ask you something punk, do ya feel lucky,--well do ya". Should I where the plate mail knight's armour or the kevlar jacket today.
