I was reminded of one of the great pleasures of life today...on my bicycle.
Because of circumstances, I don't have a car these days. (But, Friday is on the way. More on that in future posts.)
So, I need to get about on my bike. I hear people laughing and snickering. "Poor bike. Looks like a trained bear riding that thing."
Whatever.
At one point, I found myself coasting down a gentle grade for quite a distance. I didn't have to do anything but not fall off.
It reminded me of how much fun it is to coast.
However, in order to coast, at some point you need to climb. That is, IF, you want to go back to the place where you started.
Climbing equals coasting.
It's true in business, it's true in life. Work hard, real hard and we're bound to find ourselves with times, even extended times, where we can enjoy just coasting for a while.
My longest coast, on a bike, 11km, down a mountain in Japan. And, yeah, I climbed the thing first.
My longest business coast...still coasting after some 8-9 years.
When was the last time you enjoyed a good coast?
