More than 80% of people who applied were approved.
As things improve in China, US destinations are keen to attract Chinese tourists. The embassies are more confident that the travelers will return and the destinations are confident that when Chinese come to visit, they will bring a lot of money with them.
The the US Department of Commerce is forecasting that the number of Chinese traveling to the United States by 2011 will be 579,000. If each of those tourists spend a couple of thousand dollars...what's 579,000 x $2000?![]()
Last December China gave the United States approved destination status.
Up until now, the biggest problem for the consulates was worrying about whether visitors to the U.S. would return home or not. With the Chinese economy humming along and the U.S. facing a recession, we might wonder if American visitors to the Middle Kingdom will come back or not.
