Saga University in Japan has a research team that has developed a new type of green LED.

It's cheaper to make, much cheaper, and more energy efficient.

The treehugging world that uses these little buggers is soon to be a happier place. 

The goal:

1. commercial product within 2 years

2. a green LED that is 5-10 times more energy-efficient

3. save the world one small green step at a time

Japan is not often a leader, but when it comes to green, this is yet one more example where they are.
