What about when a monkey learns to fish?
Apparently, in Bangkok, the long-tailed macaque monkey knows how to fish, as well as grab fruit from a tree or a banana from a tourist.
In Indonesia, the silver-haired (retired and members of AARP maybe) know how to fish.
Get a pole, some string, a hook and some bait.![]()
These little primates don't need all that stuff. They just reach in and grab the fish.
Adaptation? Seems so to me. Monkeys are survivors.
The researchers are describing the actions as "rare and isolated" behavior. For what it's worth, they'd be saying the same thing about me if they ever saw me with a fishing pole.
Baboons, orangutans, and chimpanzees have been known to fish as well.
I wonder...can they teach me how to do it?
