If times are met, only one relay per country is allowed (There are three relays). Again, countries can swop around swimmers from prelims and finals. Some counties take 6, some only 4. It is good to take a lot because you can spare the good swimmers for the final race. It depends on how good the country is. Some countries need their best swimmers every race to qualify into the finals.
Here are the lists of relays:
Relays
4x100 Freestyle relay (fastest relay collecting four sprinters from each country. It is the first relay in the Olympics. Most exciting)
Males - It is America’s signature race, however US has not won in two Olympics losing to Australia in '00, South Africa and to Dutch in '04 coming in third.
Females - The Dutch own the World record. Australia won last Olympics. US is also good.
4x100 Medley relay (one person per each stroke. See which country is good at everything.)
Males - USA always wins for males. But Japanese are getting very good.
Females - Australian female team is very talented. US and Germany is good also.
4x200 Freestyle relay (This event is known to determine which country’s got the best distance swimmers.) Males - Australians love this event, but lost at 2004 and they want it back. US has the World Record. Who’s it going to be? Italians are also good.
Females – Americans have the world record. US won the last Olympic. Chinese and the Germans were right behind.
