-Michael Phelps is born 1985 and is from Baltimore, Maryland

-He now trains under Bob Bowman, head coach of University of Michigan in Ann Arbor

-Phelps first qualified for the Olympics in 2000 when he was 15 years old

-Less than a year after, he broke the world record as a 15-year old

-He now owns 6 world records (and can possibly own 12 if he could swim all in one meet!)

-Phelps was the youngest male swimmer ever to break a world record and also youngest male swimmer (16) ever to turn pro (The idea that professional swimming exist sounds funny, but there is.)

-Phelps will earn a one million dollar bonus from his sponsor Speedo if he ties the 7 Gold medal record in the Olympics set by Mark Spitz

-Phelps is bringing swimming to the next level, media-wise and competition-wise. He is the Michael Jordan of swimming.
